Use this when Threads will not connect, or a post is blocked before it can publish. Threads connects from Settings, then Socials. The card is labeled Threads and shows a Beta badge. Sign-in uses the Instagram account that owns the Threads profile.
Open Settings and select Socials.
Select Connect platforms if nothing is connected yet, or Connect accounts if a channel has been connected before.
A window opens. It first says Connecting to Ayrshare…. Ayrshare is the service that completes the Threads sign-in. Seeing that name is expected.
Sign in with the Instagram account for that Threads profile, and approve every requested permission. An Instagram account is required. If this account was authorized before, the window can skip the sign-in and ask you to continue.
While the window is open, Socialbud shows Waiting for connection…. When it succeeds, Threads appears on Socials with a Connected badge and the account name.
The first time you select Threads on a post, Socialbud says Threads is in Beta. Choose I understand, continue to keep it selected, or Cancel to leave it off.
Confirm you can sign in to the Instagram account that owns the Threads profile.
In Socialbud, open Settings, then Socials, and select Connect accounts.
In the window, sign in to Instagram and approve every requested permission.
Close the window and check that Threads says Connected on Socials.
On a post, select Threads and confirm I understand, continue the first time.
Allow pop-up windows for Socialbud. If a new window cannot open, the connection page opens in the same tab.
Only an owner or a manager of the Socialbud account can connect or disconnect Threads.
Publishing has to be included in the plan before Threads can be connected.
During authorization, the window lists the app as Ayrshare, not Socialbud.
If a permission was skipped, restore it in the Threads settings for website permissions, then select Connect accounts again.
The Beta badge means publishing can still have issues. After a post goes out, check Threads and confirm it is really there. If it is not, contact [email protected].
Threads accepts text, a single image, a video, a carousel, or a hybrid carousel. The Story format in Content is not offered. If Threads is the only connected channel, a story says None of your connected platforms support this post format.
A carousel or hybrid carousel can have up to 20 items.
The caption can be up to 500 characters. A video can be up to 300 seconds (5 minutes). An image can be up to 5 MB. GIF images are blocked. Use a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image.
Turn off a VPN or an ad blocker if the window fails to load, then try again.
Threads will not connect. Sign in with the Instagram account that owns the Threads profile, and approve every permission. Then select Connect accounts again.
The card says Reconnect required, or a published post fails because access changed. Select Connect accounts and approve Threads again.
You see "Meta (Facebook/Instagram/Threads) is requesting additional identity verification for this account." Finish the verification Meta asks for on that account, then try the post again.
You see "Threads couldn't publish this post — this is often a media-fetching issue." Re-upload the image or video, then try again.
You see "The post is too long for Threads (max 500 characters)." Shorten the caption. The post can also offer Shorten for Threads.
You see "Threads supports a maximum of 20 items per carousel or hybrid carousel." Remove items until 20 or fewer remain.
You see "Threads has a 5 MB image size limit. Reduce the image file size to publish to Threads." Use a smaller image, then try again.
You see "Threads supports videos up to 300 seconds (5 minutes). Trim the video to publish to Threads." Shorten the video, then try again.
You see "Threads does not support GIF images. Please use a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image." Replace the GIF, then try again.
You see Waiting for connection… after you already closed the window. Give it a few seconds. Socialbud is still checking the result.
Why does the window ask for Instagram? Threads sign-in goes through the Instagram account that owns the profile. The channel still appears as Threads in Socialbud.
Why does the window mention Ayrshare? Socialbud uses Ayrshare to complete the sign-in.
Why is there a Beta badge? Threads is still in testing. The first time you select it on a post, choose I understand, continue. After publishing, check the post on Threads.
