Use this when Snapchat will not connect, or a snap is blocked before it can publish. Snapchat connects from Settings, then Socials. The card is labeled Snapchat and shows a Beta badge.
Open Settings and select Socials.
Select Connect platforms if nothing is connected yet, or Connect accounts if a channel has been connected before.
A window opens. It first says Connecting to Ayrshare…. Ayrshare is the service that completes the Snapchat sign-in. Seeing that name is expected.
Sign in to Snapchat and approve the requested access. The account needs a public profile that has been switched to a professional profile. A private Snapchat account cannot be linked.
While the window is open, Socialbud shows Waiting for connection…. When it succeeds, Snapchat appears on Socials with a Connected badge and the account name.
The first time you select Snapchat on a post, Socialbud says Snapchat is in Beta. Choose I understand, continue to keep it selected, or Cancel to leave it off.
On the post, Post as chooses where the snap goes. The default is Story (24-hour). The other choices are Saved Story (permanent) and Spotlight.
In the Snapchat app, open your profile and set up a Public Profile if you do not have one.
In that profile's settings, choose Switch to a Professional Profile, pick a category, and confirm.
In Socialbud, open Settings, then Socials, and select Connect accounts.
In the window, sign in to Snapchat and approve every requested permission.
Close the window and check that Snapchat says Connected on Socials.
On a post, select Snapchat, confirm I understand, continue the first time, add an image or a video, and set Post as.
Allow pop-up windows for Socialbud. If a new window cannot open, the connection page opens in the same tab.
Only an owner or a manager of the Socialbud account can connect or disconnect Snapchat.
Publishing has to be included in the plan before Snapchat can be connected.
During authorization, Snapchat lists the app as Ayrshare, not Socialbud.
The Beta badge means publishing can still have issues. After a snap goes out, check Snapchat and confirm it is really there. If it is not, contact [email protected].
Snapchat needs an image or a video. A text-only post is blocked.
Snapchat is offered for a single image or a video. A carousel is not offered. The Story format in Content is also not offered for Snapchat. Story (24-hour) under Post as is a Snapchat destination, not that Content format. If Snapchat is the only connected channel, a carousel or a Content story says None of your connected platforms support this post format.
Story (24-hour) disappears after a day. Saved Story (permanent) stays on the public profile. Spotlight needs a video. An image with Spotlight selected is blocked.
A vertical 9:16 image is adjusted for you. Socialbud can show Snapchat Stories work best with a 9:16 (vertical) image, we adjusted it for you:
Use a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image, or an MP4 video. GIF images and MOV or WebM video are blocked.
A video can be up to 60 seconds. An image can be up to 20 MB. The caption can be up to 500 characters.
Turn off a VPN or an ad blocker if the Snapchat window fails to load, then try again.
Snapchat will not connect, or the account is missing. Confirm the Snapchat account has a public profile switched to a professional profile, then select Connect accounts again and approve access.
The card says Reconnect required, or a published post fails because access changed. Select Connect accounts and approve Snapchat again.
You see "Snapchat does not support text-only posts. Add at least one image or video." Add an image or a video, then try again.
You see "Snapchat Spotlight only supports video — switch to Story/Saved Story, or add a video." Change Post as to Story (24-hour) or Saved Story (permanent), or replace the image with a video.
You see "The caption is too long for Snapchat (max 500 characters)." Shorten the caption. The post can also offer Shorten for Snapchat.
You see "Snapchat supports videos up to 60 seconds. Trim the video to publish to Snapchat." Shorten the video, then try again.
You see "Snapchat has a 20 MB image size limit. Reduce the image file size to publish to Snapchat." Use a smaller image, then try again.
You see "Snapchat does not support GIF images or MOV/WebM video. Please use a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image and MP4 video." Replace the file, then try again.
You see Waiting for connection… after you already closed the window. Give it a few seconds. Socialbud is still checking the result.
Why does the window mention Ayrshare? Socialbud uses Ayrshare to complete the Snapchat sign-in. The channel still appears as Snapchat in Socialbud.
Why is there a Beta badge? Snapchat is still in testing. The first time you select it on a post, choose I understand, continue. After publishing, check the snap on Snapchat.
Why is Snapchat missing on a Story I made in Content? That Story format is not sent to Snapchat. Use a single image or a video, then choose Story (24-hour) or Saved Story (permanent) under Post as.
