Use this when Reddit will not connect, a subreddit is rejected, or a post is blocked before it can publish. Reddit connects from Settings, then Socials. The card is labeled Reddit and shows a Beta badge.
Open Settings and select Socials.
Select Connect platforms if nothing is connected yet, or Connect accounts if a channel has been connected before.
A window opens. It first says Connecting to Ayrshare…. Ayrshare is the service that completes the Reddit sign-in. Seeing that name is expected.
Sign in to Reddit and approve the requested access.
While the window is open, Socialbud shows Waiting for connection…. When it succeeds, Reddit appears on Socials with a Connected badge and the account name.
The first time you select Reddit on a post, Socialbud says Reddit is in Beta. Choose I understand, continue to keep it selected, or Cancel to leave it off.
On the post, Subreddit and Title are required. Until both are filled, the channel shows Missing info. The caption is the body of the post. It can be empty.
In Socialbud, open Settings, then Socials, and select Connect accounts.
In the window, sign in to Reddit and approve every requested permission.
Close the window and check that Reddit says Connected on Socials.
On a post, select Reddit and confirm I understand, continue the first time.
Under Subreddit, type only the name, such as tesla. Do not type r/tesla. When you leave the field, Socialbud removes a leading r/ if you added one, then shows Checking subreddit….
Fill in Title. Add a caption, or one image, then publish.
Allow pop-up windows for Socialbud. If a new window cannot open, the connection page opens in the same tab.
Only an owner or a manager of the Socialbud account can connect or disconnect Reddit.
Publishing has to be included in the plan before Reddit can be connected.
During authorization, Reddit lists the app as Ayrshare, not Socialbud.
The Beta badge means publishing can still have issues. After a post goes out, check Reddit and confirm it is really there. If it is not, contact [email protected].
Reddit accepts a text post or a single image. Video, carousel, and story posts are not offered. If Reddit is the only connected channel, those formats say None of your connected platforms support this post format.
An image post and a text caption cannot go out together. If the post has an image, Reddit uses the Title and the image. The caption is not added to that post.
There is no flair field and no separate link field. A subreddit that requires flair cannot be posted to from Socialbud.
The subreddit check is a spelling check. This subreddit couldn't be found — double check the spelling before posting. means the name did not match. If the check cannot run, that line does not appear.
Read the subreddit's rules before you post. Karma minimums, account age, how often you may post, images, and self-promotion are set by that community. Socialbud does not show those rules.
Turn off a VPN or an ad blocker if the Reddit window fails to load, then try again.
Reddit will not connect. Select Connect accounts again, sign in, and approve access. Allow pop-up windows if the window never opens.
The card says Reconnect required, or a published post fails because access changed. Select Connect accounts and approve Reddit again.
You see "Some required fields are missing for this platform. Reddit". Fill in both Subreddit and Title.
You see "This subreddit couldn't be found — double check the spelling before posting." Type the name without r/, and confirm the community exists on Reddit.
You see "You've been banned from posting to this subreddit." That Reddit account cannot post there. Choose another subreddit, or use a different Reddit account.
You see "Reddit rejected this post — the title contains a word that subreddit doesn't allow." Change Title, then try again.
You see "The post is too long for Reddit (max 5,000 characters)." Shorten the caption. The post can also offer Shorten for Reddit. The limit is on the caption, not on Title.
You see "Reddit has a 5 MB image size limit. Reduce the image file size to publish to Reddit." Use a smaller image, then try again.
The image published, but the caption is missing on Reddit. That is expected for an image post. Put the words in Title, or remove the image and post text only.
The post fails and the subreddit requires a flair. Socialbud cannot set flair. Post to a subreddit that does not require one.
You see Waiting for connection… after you already closed the window. Give it a few seconds. Socialbud is still checking the result.
Why does the window mention Ayrshare? Socialbud uses Ayrshare to complete the Reddit sign-in. The channel still appears as Reddit in Socialbud.
Why is there a Beta badge? Reddit is still in testing. The first time you select it on a post, choose I understand, continue. After publishing, check the post on Reddit.
What do I type in Subreddit? The name only. tesla is correct. r/tesla is rewritten to tesla when you leave the field.
