Troubleshooting: Telegram

Fix Telegram connection problems and messages that will not publish.

Overview

Use this when Telegram will not connect, or a message is blocked before it can publish. Telegram connects from Settings, then Socials. The card is labeled Telegram and shows a Beta badge. You connect a channel or a group you administer, not a private chat.

How It Works

  1. Open Settings and select Socials.

  2. Select Connect platforms if nothing is connected yet, or Connect accounts if a channel has been connected before.

  3. A window opens. It first says Connecting to Ayrshare…. Ayrshare is the service that completes the Telegram connection. Seeing that name is expected.

  4. In the Telegram app, add the bot @AyrshareBot as an administrator of the channel or group. Its display name is Ayrshare. Other bots with a similar name do not work.

  5. The connection window shows an access code. Copy the whole code, including Code:, paste it into that same channel or group, and send it. Telegram can take up to 5 minutes to reply that it worked.

  6. While the window is open, Socialbud shows Waiting for connection…. When it succeeds, Telegram appears on Socials with a Connected badge.

  7. The first time you select Telegram on a post, Socialbud says Telegram is in Beta. Choose I understand, continue to keep it selected, or Cancel to leave it off.

Instructions

  1. In Telegram, open the channel or group you want to post to. You need to be an administrator there.

  2. Add @AyrshareBot as an administrator, not only as a member. Before you add it, open the bot and confirm the username is exactly @AyrshareBot.

  3. For a channel, open Info, then Administrators, then Add Admin. For a group, add the bot first, then open Administrators and Add Admin.

  4. Allow the permissions the bot needs to post and delete, then tap Done.

  5. In Socialbud, open Settings, then Socials, and select Connect accounts.

  6. Copy the access code from the window, including Code:. Paste it into the same channel or group and send it.

  7. Wait for Telegram's success reply. It can take up to 5 minutes. Then check that Telegram says Connected on Socials.

Tips & Notes

  • Allow pop-up windows for Socialbud. If a new window cannot open, the connection page opens in the same tab.

  • Only an owner or a manager of the Socialbud account can connect or disconnect Telegram.

  • Publishing has to be included in the plan before Telegram can be connected.

  • The bot has to be an administrator in the same place where you paste the code. If it is only a member, the code is ignored and nothing happens.

  • A channel post shows the channel's name and logo. A group post shows the Ayrshare name and logo.

  • The Beta badge means publishing can still have issues. After a message goes out, check Telegram and confirm it is really there. If it is not, contact [email protected].

  • Telegram accepts text, one image, or one video. A carousel is not offered. The Story format in Content is also not offered. If Telegram is the only connected channel, a carousel or a Content story says None of your connected platforms support this post format.

  • A link in a text message can show a preview. If the post also has an image or a video, Telegram shows that media instead of the link preview.

  • Post performance for this channel says Analytics not available for this platform. That is expected. Check the result in Telegram.

  • Turn off a VPN or an ad blocker if the connection window fails to load, then try again.

Troubleshooting

  • Nothing happens after you send the code. Confirm the bot username is @AyrshareBot, that it is an administrator, and that you pasted the code into that same channel or group, including Code:. Wait up to 5 minutes.

  • You added a bot named Ayrshare, but it still fails. Open the bot profile. If the username is not exactly @AyrshareBot, remove it and add the correct one.

  • The card says Reconnect required, or a published post fails because access changed. Select Connect accounts, copy a new code, and send it in the channel or group again.

  • You see "Telegram does not support carousel posts. Only a single image or video can be published." Remove the extra images or videos until one remains, or post text only.

  • You see "The message is too long for Telegram (max 1,024 characters)." Shorten the caption. The post can also offer Shorten for Telegram.

  • You see "Telegram has a 5 MB image size limit. Reduce the image file size to publish to Telegram." Use a smaller image, then try again.

  • A video fails and Socialbud shows no size warning. Telegram's own video limit is 20 MB. Use a smaller video, then try again.

  • You see Waiting for connection… after you already closed the window. Give it a few seconds. Socialbud is still checking the result. The Telegram success reply can still arrive up to 5 minutes after you send the code.

FAQ

Why does the window mention Ayrshare? Socialbud uses Ayrshare to connect Telegram. The channel still appears as Telegram in Socialbud. The bot you add is @AyrshareBot.

Why is there a Beta badge? Telegram is still in testing. The first time you select it on a post, choose I understand, continue. After publishing, check the message in Telegram.

Can I connect my personal Telegram chat? No. Connect a channel or a group where you are an administrator.
